Golden Globes Fashion Wrap--Part 1

Ladies, yes, it is that time again. I look forward to this each and every year.....my own version of Fashion Police!!! Here I go and give you some of my favorite, and last favorite, gowns on the Red Carpet. Now, I do not endorse the award shows in their entirety (dealing with Ricky Gervais's crass behavior is not something I would encourage others to sit through), but I do love predicting the winners.

Now, I do not agree with Hollywood's standards. I wish some people would be more covered up than they are....but that doesn't mean I cannot love a strapless gown when I see one. I might now where a thigh high slit, but sometimes a dress with one does look palatable. After years of condemnation for these posts, I'm not apologizing anymore. I believe in modesty; I put it into practice myself. But I do not always expect it in Hollywood. There is my disclaimer. Now are you ready to jump right in?

Because I found so many looks I wanted to share with you, I am doing this in a divided post. Today, I am giving my top five favorite dresses =)

#1 for me is Jessica Alba. I saw this dress on the red carpet and my jaw hit the floor. She just had a baby six months ago?! She looks stunning--simply stunning. The pale purple looks gorgeous on her skin tone. Those appliques are actually butterflies or so someone reported...aren't they lovely? Her hair and makeup is absolutely flawless; I wish mine often looked like that. Suffice it to say, I cannot find one single thing wrong with this look. I dare you to try ;-)

#2 is the pairing of George Clooney and his current date, Stacy Keibler. George is a good looking guy, I'm just saying it now. I find him extremely attractive, though my mother does not for some really crazy reason. Stacy, on this occasion, looks amazing. That red dress is classy and yet subtly sexy. It shows off her figure and yet, it is pretty modest as well. Her hair and makeup look great as well. Again, I cannot find a single thing wrong with this look. I could see myself wearing this dress.

#3 is Emma Stone. I have been paying attention to this actress's style for months. Ever since her promo tour for "The Help," she has made some amazing wardrobe choices, ones that are often classy and modest. This one is as well--although the neckline does plunge a little two much for my taste. The eggplant color looks gorgeous with her red hair (which I have had highlighted in my hair thanks to her ;-) and that eagle belt, well, it's a quirk that is entirely Emma. I find this dress fun. Again, hair and makeup are flawless for me.

#4 is Angelina Jolie. I'm going to be honest with you. I can hardly believe that she is on my list. Normally, Angelina is far too black and monochromatic for my taste. But I was wowed by her pale pink and red dress. It oozed with a classic Hollywood vibe that I always enjoy seeing. The red lip just adds to that feeling. That being said, I am not a fan of her hair. Austere buns = not my thing.

#5 is Octavia Spenser (AKA Minnie from "The Help). Now this is how a woman with curves dresses!!!! I have a friend who went nuts, absolutely nuts, over this gown. Octavia looks amazing. The pale purple worked for his skin tone much like it did for Jessica. The dress hit her in all the right places. The clutch, the jewels.....she just looks confident and full of poise. I was so glad that she won Best Supporting Actress.

So, there you have it--my top 5. I will be back with more of these later in the week. But in the meantime, if you have seen gowns that you liked....I want to hear all about your choices!! Perhaps they will be on my second list ;-)
