I do not know you, my darling
Or if you are in my life.
Though on this day, I will confess,
I wonder about being your wife
People are flocking to the stores
Men and women pass me by
Flowers and candy are bought
Despite the prices oh so high
Cards are flying off the shelves
Praising a "significant someone"
While I, on the other hand,
Receive not a one.
God, by His grace, is keeping me
Along the straight and narrow.
I am reminded that difficulty comes
But joy will arrive on the morrow
Being one of the few without a beau
Certainly isn't easy
The world screams at me, "You're nuts!
The world screams at me, "You're nuts!
Your love life is measly!"
I am aiming though for something higher
A love that is so true
It's a story of God's greatness that I want
Something only He could do
May the gift I give you right now be
A life of modesty
A servant's heart, a sister's love
An example of purity.
No matter how long it takes
I'm committed to waiting on God
I will not seek to be your girl
Until I get His confirming nod
Lord, you have read my heart. May you always be my first love. And may you keep me true to my future spouse until the day I say, "I do."

That was beautiful, Ella! It almost made me cry... I am so glad someone else is sentimental on Valentines Day and thinks about their future husbands. :)
Did you write that? It was so lovely!
Happy Valentines Day to you...
Kaysie
Pretty poem, straight from your heart, I know. I wish that had been my mindset when I was your age. Sadly, though, purity (whether it be emotional or physical) was not something that I knew anything about.
May the Lord honor your commitment to wait on Him.
Love,
Mom
Wow. What can I say? Beautiful! Lovely! So touching!!
Ella, you have a beautiful way with words! God will bless you greatly in your commitment to purity! Your future husband will be one extremely blessed man to get you! ;-)
Beautiful :)
I feel the same way...
Jess
Okay, I don't think I've ever commented before (although I've read your blog for a while...), but after that post, I've decided to.
What a beautiful and touching tribute. What a precious gift you are saving for your husband. And what an excellent, touching, difficult and wonderful reminder for me and the rest of us single girls. Thank you for this post..................
May the Lord richly bless you as you continue to seek and follow Him.
Thank you all once again.
Yes, Kaysie, I wrote the poem. It doesn't always come easily to me; God gives me the ability to keep at it. No, you aren't the only one who is sentimental. I am a very sentimental person.
Mom, even though you were different than I am now, I appreciate that I have your support!
Anna, you have a way with words too. To God be the glory!
Bonnie, so glad you commented. It isn't easy to go against the world--remaining emotionally pure can be the hardest. But God is good, and He is faithful to assist...and I can only believe all of our love stories will have an ending!
Hello! I found your blog though the modest teen modesty pledge. That poem is very true;God truely has blessed you with poetry. Keep going strong for the Lord!
You have been truly blessed to have such a love for the Lord. He has given you a great talent with words to truly express your heart. May this peom be a blessing to all who reads it. Love Dad
Excellent poem!
The words and the meaning were simply beautiful. :-)
I hope and pray that God will send you that special one...in His own timing. He will reward you for waiting on Him....
Thank you all for your wonderful words....and Dad for stopping by again!
